Marc Ivey is the 2008 Warwickshire Skeet Champion after shooting his first 100 straight in the discipline before shooting off for the title against 2007 winner Paul Fallon. Both shot the hundred, Marc quite early in the day followed by Paul on the last but one squad of the afternoon leaving Marc an anxious wait to see if his hundred would be enough to win. With the likes of Nick Marsden and Paul Fallon still to go out he anticipated it would probably go to a shoot off. As Nick cleared up the first 75 he was looking good to shoot yet another straight until........... one carried on unbroken and Nick finished on 99. Next out Paul was shooting well and with all 4 rounds complete the second 100 of the day for Warwickshire shooters was on the score board. In the final squad, Veteran John Batchelor was going well at the half way stage with 50 straight and not looking like he might miss anything - unfortunatly John took his afternoon nap on the 3rd round and shot a 23 followed by another 25 to finish on 98 collecting the Veterans Championship award.
In the Ladies, Kate Marsden made a return to her form of last season posting a very tidy 98 to take the Ladies Championship just one behind husband Nick.
The Junior Championship has been won by new kid on the block James Brown, shooting his first registered targets after joining the CPSA just a few weeks earlier. James did not have the regular contenders to deal with but non the less did a sterling job with steadily improving scores after a nervous start. I'm sure we can expect to see more of this young man in the results before the season is out.
ALL THE RESULTS (I'll put a link here to the CPSA results page when it's posted on the web)
County Champion - Marc Ivey 100 + 25
Runner Up - Paul Fallon 100 + 24
Ladies Champion - Kate Marsden - 98
Veteran Champion - John Batchelor - 98
Junior Champion - James Brown - 82
The shoot attracted a good entry of 37 including many more usually found shooting other disiplines. Thanks to all that supported the event and in most cases collected a few extra points toward the shooter of the year awards.
